Smeđe aluminij oksid se spajaju i kristalizovan pod visokom temperaturom od mešavine boksita i drugih i drugih sirovina. Odlikuje se visokom tvrdoćom, dobra žilavost i oblika veličine. Abraziva alata od njega su pogodne za brušenje metala visoke zatezne čvrstoće, kao što su: ugljični čelik, opće namjene, legiranih čelika, kaijeno temper željeza i teško Broze, etc.It se također može koristiti kao vatrostalnih materijala.
